Berry & Sons, West Hartlepool

Post by phil1806 » Wed Dec 19, 2018 11:59 pm

I have a silver pocket watch, case hallmarked 1878, movement signed Berry & Sons West Hartlepool. 1890 Kelly's Directory for Durham (on this site) lists BerryG & Son at 63 Church Street, West Hartlepool and Berry Geo. Frank at 39, Northgate Street. It looks like there was a family business, making watches, barometers and ships instruments (I found references to a Pelorus and an octant). I wondered if you knew, or could find out any more. Your alphabetic listing doesn't include them.

A page about the business of James Berry and his son has now been added to the website. A nominal fee to subscribe and view the site applies.

Thank you very much for researching and adding the entry for Berry & Son to the website. It was well worth the small subscription to get so much information about the family business that made my watch.
